At approximately 0130hrs, the members of Alert Fire Company were dispatched on a still alarm for the ladder truck to respond to the City of Englewood. While the members of the EFD were battling a 2nd alarm fire, DC 2 Chief Kneisler, along with Truck 742 under the command of Captain Lopez stood by with engines from Fort Lee and Leonia taking in no calls. Units were released and back into the borough by 0210hrs.

At approximately 16:23 a day still was sounded for a MVC requiring extrication on Windsor Road near Maiden Lane. DC2 Chief Kneisler, Rescue 746, and Engine 744, under the command of Portable 13 (Lt. Kirsch) responded. Upon arrival, members had a one vehicle crash involving a car vs. a tree. BFD members removed the driver’s door while members of Teaneck Engine 4 and Rescue 1 stretched a dry line, secured the battery, and applied speedy dry. Once the door was removed, members of Teaneck Ambulance Corps. and ALS 201 began packaging and treating the patient to be transported to a local hospital. Units were picked up and back in quarters by 17:13.

At 1040 a day still was sounded for a vehicle into a house on Norfolk Street. Engine 744 under the command of Lt. Kirsch along with Rescue 746 responded on the run. Upon arrival, units located a vehicle that crashed through the back wall of the garage, went into a rear room and was half way through back of the house. Members cleared a large amount of debris, secured both the utilities and the vehicle, as well as checked the structural stability of the building. The vehicle was successfully removed from the structure with out any shoring operations. BFD units were released by the Building Inspector and back in service in about an hour.

At 03:23 hrs, the Bergenfield FD was dispatched on a general alarm assignment for a reported overturned vehicle on the Clinton Ave. CSX crossing. Chief Gomez arrived on scene and reported that the occupants were out of the vehicle. Engine 745 and Rescue 746 responded in and all other units were held in quarters. A precautionary line was stretched and the vehicle was stabilized. The BVAC packaged and removed the victims from the scene. The BFD cleared the scene with 90 minutes.

Alert Fire Company was dispatched on a still alarm for a reported activated fire alarm at 73 S. Washington Avenue at 03:27 hrs. The Bergenfield PD was first to arrive on scene and reported a working fire in vacant video store. The call was upgraded to a general alarm assignment by DC 2 Kneisler, which brought the rest of the department.
Chief Gomez (740) was in command of the fire and requested a FAST team of New Milford and a 2nd alarm to cover the borough. Engine 744was first due and hit the hydrant at Bergen and S. Wash and their crew stretched an attack line to the front of the building. Ladder 742’s crew went to the roof while Engine 745 stretched a back-up line and the Rescue forced entry into the structure and worked on the roof. Members from Engine’s 743 and 747 along with ladder 748 went to the rear of the structure and worked with the roof and interior crews. The members made a quick aggressive attack and the main body of fire was knocked down quickly.
Mutual aid from Dumont, Teaneck and Englewood took in an alarm while covering the town. All units were back in service by 0600.
