F.A.S.T. Team Drill Held In Bergenfield

Posted on March 30, 2008
On Sunday morning the Bergenfield Fire Department hosted a drill for the Interboro Mutual Aid Group.  The Dumont, Cresskill, New Milford and Tenafly Fire Departments were invited to participate in the hands on scenario at the Bergenfield Fire Training Center. (www.bftc.net), but only the New Milford FD was able to attend.  New Milford’s F.A.S.T Team was activated to search for two downed firefighters that were operating on a handline prior to a major ceiling collapse.  We would like to thank the Officers of the BFD and the Instructors from the BFTC for creating and overseeing this drill.  Pictures were taken by Bergenfield Firefighter Jack Janssens.

The Bergenfield Fire Training Center is a STATE CERTIFIED live burn facility comprised of state certified instructors from the Bergenfield Fire Department.  Originally, the BFTC was built for the training of Bergenfield's firefighters, but the center was quickly rented out to other area fire departments who want realistic hands-on firefighter training.
